School Committee Meeting – Monday, March 31, 2008
Superintendent’s Conference Room, Wellesley Middle School

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman at 6:35 pm.  Mr. Young, Ms. Allen, Mr. Guiffre, Ms. Littlefield, and Ms. Newman were present.  Also present were Ms. Wong, Ms. Berdell, and Ms. Gregory.

ACTION ITEMS
FY09 Budget Ms. Berdell reviewed specific operating and capital funds designated in the School Committee budget to be moved into the Town Maintenance budget. 

Upon motion made by Mr. Young, seconded by Ms. Allen, it was unanimously

VOTED:            To transfer $2,159,295 from the School Committee’s FY09 operating budget as approved February 26, 2008 to the Town Maintenance budget.

Upon motion made by Mr. Young, seconded by Ms. Allen, it was unanimously

VOTED:  To transfer $362,908 from the School Committee’s Cash Capital FY09 budget as approved October 30, 2007, to the Town Maintenance budget.

Contracts  Ms. Gregory presented the tentative agreement reached with the Wellesley School Custodians for approval by the committee.  Effective July 1, 2007, the hourly rates of pay shall be increased by 3.25%.  An increase of $0.10 shall be added to the top step.  The agreement shall be effective July 1, 2007 and through June 30, 2008.

Upon motion made by Mr. Guiffre, seconded by Ms. Littlefield, it was unanimously

VOTED:  To approve the contract effective July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 as presented.

Naming Rights Policy  Mr. Guiffre reviewed history of the Naming Rights Policy and suggested the Committee vote the policy before Annual Town Meeting, with the understanding that it could be changed at a later date if necessary.

Upon motion made by Ms. Littlefield, seconded by Ms. Allen, and amended by Mr. Young, it was unanimously

VOTED:    Having held a public hearing, requested input, and received none, to approve the proposed Naming Rights Policy as presented March 25, 2008.
