School Year

The school year shall be as set forth in the calendar approved by the School Committee.

c. School Year Calendar 2001-2002: The Committee considered calendar configurations for school year 2001-2002.  Responsive to concerns expressed by some citizens, the Committee agreed by consensus that as a general rule for calendar development, when Labor Day occurs prior to September 4, the start date for students will be the Tuesday after Labor Day.  When Labor Day occurs on September 4 or later, the start date for students will be the Wednesday before Labor Day.  The Committee will continue its practice of adopting the next year’s school year calendar annually, and the Committee agreed that in any given year it may vote exceptions to the general guidelines stipulated.
