Department Goals for Current Academic Year

1. To pay ongoing attention to developing pedagogy and methodology for teaching all students effectively, especially those in heterogeneously grouped classes, while maintaining consistently high and uniform expectations and working to insure everyone’s success at the highest level of achievement possible. To aid in this, we shall continue to implement throughout the year methodologies and actual lesson plans involving differentiated instruction, focusing this year on the teaching of grammatical structures without teaching formal grammar and its terminology.

2. To strive individually and as a group to effectively implement and support our new grade 6 Spanish program, while simultaneously continuing to investigate ways for capitalizing on the linguistic background of elementary Spanish students when they enter French, German, and Latin in grade 7.
