Dr. Douglas Brown is head of the Department of Science and Technology. He teaches Biology and Chemistry in the department. Dr. Brown joined the department in 2003 and became head of the department in 2006. He holds a B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology, and a Ph. D. in Molecular Microbiology. |

Mr. Kenneth Bateman teaches Biology and Earth Science. He has been a member of the department since 2006. Prior to coming to WHS, Mr. Bateman was a faculty member at Lexington High School. |

Ms. Julie Boehm teaches Biology. She joined the department in 2006. Prior to her arrival at WHS, she taught at Framingham High School. She holds a B.S. in Biology. She also serves as the school liason to the Broad Institute in Cambridge, where she spent a summer as teacher in residence. |

Mr. James Burke joined the department in 2007. He formerly taught wood manufaturing and construction in Taunton and Marblehead. He also runs his own contracting business. |

Ms. Rita Chang teaches Earth Science. She has been a member of the department since 2002. She is one of the creators of "Classroom Encounters", a film series that shows WHS students questioning and learning from well known climate scientists. |

Mr. Brian Finn teaches Physics. He joined the department in 2007. Prior to coming to WHS, Mr. Finn taught Physics at Newton South. |

Mr. Lawrence Fisher teaches Chemistry and Mathmatics. He joined the Sci/Tec Department two years ago, but has been a member of the WHS Math Department since 2002. He is one of the Advisors of the ADL program at WHS. He is a graduate University of Rochester, where he studied Mathmatics and Chemistry. |

Ms. Carolyn Fretz teaches Earth Science. She has been a member of the department for nine years. Prior to joining the faculty, Ms. Fretz was a newspaper journalist. In addition to holding degrees in journalism, biology and psychology, Ms. Fretz holds a Master's degree in teaching from Harvard University. |

Ms. Theresa Green teaches Earth Science. She has been a member of the department since 2003. Ms. Green holds a B.A. in Geology and an M.Ed. She is advisor to the "Green Team", the WHS environmental group that is working to make WHS a more eco friendly place. |

Dr. Sylvia Kaczmarek teaches Chemistry. She has been a member of the department since 2004. She holds a Ph. D. in Physical Chemistry from Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Hawaii. |

Mr. Michael Krieger teaches Physics and Chemistry. He also serves as advisor to the National Honor Society and as advisor to the Science Olympiad. |

Mr. Lawrence Lovett teaches Physics and Robotics. Prior to coming to WHS, Mr. Lovett was a professor at the Franklin Institute in Boston. He also serves as advisor to the BotBall team, the Mathmatics team, and the Science Olympiad team. |

Dr. Thomas Van Geel teaches Chemistry. He has been a member of the department since 2005. Dr. Van Geel holds an M.D., and prior to coming to WHS, he taught at Harvard University. He serves as a member of the Faculty Senate, and is an advisor to the Science Olympiad team. |
